MISSION

My mission is to empower parents with practical, evidence based nutrition solutions.

I combine my 25 years experience as a Paediatric Dietitian, with real-life tools and compassion I’ve learnt as a mum, to help parents to feel confident in nourishing their children.

I’m creating a movement where feeding kids is Easier and Guilt Free!!

Karina’s story..

Back in 2012, we had our first baby. Little did I know the journey I was about to embark on with feeding her.

Firstly - she was a colicky baby… a chucker, gassy and irritable. Luckily for me, as a paediatric gut health dietitian who had studied babies exactly like this, I was able to come up with a plan to fix her tummy… and get some sleep!

Then, moving into toddlerhood, came the fussy eating!!! Let’s just say, I truly understand first hand how your confidence can be shattered when you have a fussy eater, who constantly refuses nutritious foods.

It’s unfair how much our self confidence and self worth gets wrapped up in what our child eats.

Since then I have completely changed my approach to feeding…and now I love helping other mums nourish their little ones more easily!

I created my fussy eating program and membership to be everything an overwhelmed parent needs to raise a healthy eater, stress free.

I know the secret juice and I want this for you too, which is why I’m here to change your story in your home - so you can do this too

  • A paediatric dietician is a healthcare professional who specialises in the dietary needs of children from infancy through adolescence. Their role is to assess the nutritional status of children, considering growth, development, and specific medical or health concerns. The paediatric dietitian creates personalized nutrition plans based on the child’s unique needs, whether it’s managing food allergies, picky eating, weight issues, or specific medical conditions like diabetes or digestive disorders. Additionally, they work closely with parents and caregivers to educate them on how to provide balanced, nutritious meals that support their child’s overall health. The goal of a paediatric dietitian is to promote long-term healthy eating habits that will benefit the child as they grow.

  • A child should be referred to a paediatric dietician or paediatric nutritionist when there are concerns about their growth, development, or eating habits. Common reasons for referral include failure to thrive, underweight or overweight issues, and specific nutritional deficiencies such as iron or calcium. If a child has food allergies, intolerances, or a medical condition requiring specialised dietary management, such as celiac disease, a referral to a kids dietician is essential. Additionally, children who are picky eaters, refuse certain food groups, or have difficulty transitioning to solid foods can benefit greatly from seeing a paediatric nutritionist who can help with strategies to improve their eating patterns. In some cases, even behavioral or emotional issues related to food can warrant a referral to ensure the child is receiving the proper nutrition for healthy development.

  • When a child is a picky eater or struggles to follow dietary recommendations, a paediatric dietician uses a variety of strategies to make food more accessible and enjoyable for the child. Understanding the root cause of picky eating is crucial, so the dietician will often begin with a thorough assessment of the child’s eating habits, food preferences, and any underlying health issues.

From there, the paediatric nutritionist creates a plan that gradually introduces new foods in a non-threatening way, using methods like food chaining, fun presentations, or involving the child in meal preparation.

They work closely with parents to set realistic goals and teach them techniques to encourage healthy eating at home, such as establishing structured meal times, offering a variety of foods without pressure, and avoiding the use of food as a reward.

For children with difficulty following dietary recommendations due to medical conditions or sensory issues, the paediatric dietitian collaborates with other healthcare professionals, such as speech therapists or occupational therapists, to address the child’s needs holistically.

  • After the initial consultation, follow-up with a paediatric dietician/ nutritionist may be required depending on the situation. This can help to monitor dietary changes made, assess progress, provide support with any challenges, and adjust the child’s nutrition plan as needed.

A paediatric dietitian provides continuous guidance to parents, helping them navigate any hurdles they face in implementing dietary changes at home. This follow-up ensures that children stay on track with their nutritional goals, and it allows the dietician to offer ongoing encouragement and practical solutions for both parents and children. Moreover, a paediatric dietician provides educational resources, meal ideas, and sometimes hands-on support, such as cooking demonstrations or workshops, to help families build confidence in managing their child’s nutrition long-term.
