Cheats (Karina’s) Apple Tarte Tatin

Ingredients (serves 2)

1 sheet puff pastry

2 apples – finely sliced

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 teaspoons sugar (regular raw sugar or caster sugar is fine)

1 egg (beaten)

Method

1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees celsius

2. Lay out puff pastry on a tray lined with baking paper.

3. Finely slice the apple (skin on).

4. Place sliced apple (each piece overlapping slightly) across the puff pastry sheet, leaving 2cm free around the edges.

5. Sprinkle the apples with the cinnamon.

6. Fold up the 4 edges of the pasty.

7. Brush the edges of the pastry well with egg.

8. Sprinkle the sugar over the top (add as much or little as you like).

9. Bake for approx. 15 mins at 200 degrees until pastry has puffed (be careful not to burn the apples).

Notes:

1. You can also do the same thing with a banana – roll it up in pastry with cinnamon and then brush with egg and pop into the oven!

2. If your child has an egg allergy, brush pastry with milk instead!
